Ministries
Youth Group
The Grace Lutheran Youth Group is for our young people in grades 7-12. The youth group does both servant activities like serving Lenten suppers and fun activities. While the bulletin and newsletter are ways to get the word out about youth group activity, Facebook is a great way to connect. So, be sure to like our Facebook page so we can let you know what we are doing next!
Grace Women of the ELCA
We have a women’s group that works together to have social events like our annual Women’s Guest Day (November). We also raise funds to support various charities. Meetings are held after worship a few times during the year. Upcoming meetings and activities are announced through the bulletin and newsletter.
Choir
Our church choir provides a wonderful way to sing together with others and bring forth some special music for our Sunday worship. We rehearse on most Wednesday evenings. Anyone is welcome to join!
Outreach
It is important that a church work together to touch the lives of people outside of our faith community. We many kinds of projects as people in our congregation desire. Currently, we are blessed to enjoy the following things that we do each year:
The Work of the ELCA – We give quarterly to our synod and they pass on a portion to the national church for the work that we do together with the thousands of other congregations in our denomination – the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
South African Partnership – We are in the Minnesota Valley Conference. Our conference is linked to the Vryheid Circuit in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa. We communicate with the Lutherans from the area, partner together in assistance and prayer, and sometimes even travel or receive visitors from there. The Partnership committee meets every other month and interested people are welcome to attend and learn about this shared ministry.
Food Shelf Support – Twice a year (March & November) we do an in-gathering of food and cash for our county food shelf.
Marcos Sican – We support a child in Guatemala through the charitable organization Common Hope. Common Hope works with many families in the Antigua, Guatemala area encouraging the children to stay in school and giving access to medical and social care. Our donation helps Marcos and his family so that he has what he needs to attend school and stay well. We have sponsored him since 2010 and hope to sponsor him until he graduates from high school.
Christmas Presents for McLeod County children – Each year we work with McLeod County Social Services and do an in-gathering of presents so that those families with few resources can give presents to their children at Christmas time.
